Callaway Gardens has long been recognized as a leader in implementing conservation strategies designed to protect this area's unique ecosystem. We provide a living, natural classroom that offers a rich variety of ecological and educational experiences for our visitors, thus enabling them to better care for the natural world we call home. Our sponsors help fund educational programs for over 30,000 school children as well as our other visitors.
| Nothing is more breathtaking than a bald eagle spreading its wings to show its majesty and strength. In our daily Birds of Prey shows at the Callaway Gardens Discovery Center, a variety of raptors, including a bald eagle, are dedicated to teaching about the delicate balance between man and nature. These fantastic creatures demonstrate their innate qualities as they fly freely overhead during these fascinating shows. In 2005 over 133,000 visitors attended the show, set in a beautiful amphitheater on the shore of Mountain Creek Lake.
| The Preserve at Callaway Gardens is dedicated to the wise stewardship of our natural resources and to offering new, exciting, environmental educational programs. Of all of Callaway Gardens' land, this parcel is in the most natural state. The land is a demonstration area for ecosystem restoration, sustainable forestry, watershed protection and habitat improvement for wildlife. A professional conservation staff manages The Preserve lands. Prescribed fire, sustainable foresty, plantings and nesting structures for wildlife, as well as the removal of exotic species are some of the management techniques used to create and maintain healthy ecosystems across the property.
| Our annual golf tournament has become the premier fundraising tournament in West Georgia. Join us for a day of golf on both of Callaway Gardens' outstanding golf courses. Thanks to the generosity of our sponsors the true winners of the event are the children who experience the educational and horticultural programs of Callaway Gardens.
| This event is held each spring and features unique speakers or published gardeners, speaking on a timely topic. The event is a great way to enjoy a lovely luncheon with your friends and expand your knowledge of indoor and outdoor gardening.
