The Eurasian kestrel is a small falcon native to Europe, Asia, and Africa where it is found in open grasslands, hills, plains, and cultivated and semi-desert areas. These birds feed on voles, small mice, insects, earthworms, butterflies, dragonflies and other small animals. They can be spotted “hovering” over open fields looking for prey.
