Red Shouldered Hawk Buteo linneatus The red-shouldered hawk’s name reflects its reddish-colored shoulders and chest. It also has red feathers lining the underside of its wings, and adults have a very conspicuous black and white striped tail. One of our most striking hawks, it is found primarily in the southeastern United States. These birds are very vocal, with a descending scream that sounds like “kee-er.” Adoption Fee: $100 |
