January | February | March | April | May | June | July | August | September | October | November | December Plant cool season vegetables now. Set out seedlings of broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower. Sow seeds for lettuce, carrots, radishes and collards. Water carefully to keep seeds and transplants from drying out in the September heat. Now is a good time to overseed Summer lawns with a cool season grass. Aerify lawns and apply Winter fescue or annual rye. Fertilize with turf-grade fertilizer at overseeding time and again in October.
