Plant a second crop of tomatoes now for a Fall harvest. Good, easy-to-find varieties include 'Celebrity' and 'Better Boy'.

Lawn grasses need water if footprints remain in the lawn when you walk across it. During dry periods, raise the blade height on your mower.

Remove spent flowers from annuals like marigolds and zinnias. "Deadheading" encourages rebloom and keeps flowering plants attractive.

If your azalea foliage has started to turn yellow, it may be the pH of your soil. If it is too alkaline, your plants are unable to absorb iron and other nutrients. Check with your county extension service for more tips on soil pH and soil sampling.

It's time to replenish the mulch around your landscape! Mulch helps conserve moisture, prevents weed seed germination, and keeps the soil cool for your shrubs and perennials. Depending on the kind of mulch you use, most beds will require two to six inches of cover.
