Mildred Pinnell Fockele began as the Horticulture Director at the Atlanta Botanical Garden in 1986. She develops and manages outdoor gardens and plant collections for ABG’s thirty acres. She also manages the new 185-acre Smithgall Woodland Garden in Gainesville, Georgia (not yet open to the public). She is a sought-after speaker and writer for local and regional gardening associations, speaking at the American Association of Botanical Gardens and Arboreta Southeastern Conference, Georgia Perennial Plant Association and the Native Plants Conference, and writing for various gardening publications. As a Container Garden specialist, Mildred and her horticulture team design elaborate plant displays for the Gardens at ABG – many being featured in Fine Gardening, Horticulture and Carolina Gardener among other publications. Walter Reeves currently hosts a four-hour weekly gardening show on NewsTalk 750 WSB-AM, which captures the most listeners in Atlanta among all 23 competing radio stations each Saturday morning. Walter writes a weekly column of gardening tips and questions and answers for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution Home & Garden section. He is known statewide through his numerous books, newspaper columns and magazine articles. His practical approach to the basics of Gardening makes him a popular and much sought-after lecturer.
